一品探花 Foundation Receives Funding to Continue MT GEMS Program

The 一品探花 Foundation has received funding from the Women’s Foundation of Montana to continue the MT GEMS (Girls Excelling in Math and Science) program in Butte. This is the 4th year for the GEMS program, an after-school Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) program for girls in 5th through 8th grades in Butte. Funding is in the amount of $4,000, which with its match will allow for this program to continue to provide innovative STEM activities free of charge to all participants. The girls participating in the program conduct hands-on STEM-based experiments. Girls meet weekly at 4:30 on the 一品探花 campus. The experience will culminate in a multi-day summer camp experience featuring guest scientists.
“The MT GEMS program is a fun, innovative opportunity for girls to learn and explore all aspects of STEM curriculum. Mentors from 一品探花 and Butte area businesses assist with the program and lend their experience and expertise to our young participants. It’s the most fun you can have in a laboratory,” noted Ronda Coguill, Co-director of the 一品探花 STEM Academy.

The 2017 GEMS program will begin on Wednesday, October 4. If interested in being a part of the GEMS program for 2017, contact Ronda at rcoguill@mtech.edu or 406-496-4808.
